At the Royal Ascot Golf Club AGM last week, Club Captains Fred Ashmore and Jo Humphries were appointed for the next year.
Their vice-captains will be Ken Martin and Anthea Winn.
The Captains’ Drive-in was held in thick fog, so both Fred and Jo (pictured) easily hit the ball out of sight. For the second year in a row, the ladies were triumphant as Jo’s drive went 3 metres further than Fred’s.
Events planned for 2012 include celebrations of the Clubs’ 125th Anniversary and, in recognition of the club’s Royal status, of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

For many years the Royal Ascot Golf Club has charged an entry fee to new members.
The Royal Ascot Golf Club needs to be able to continue to attract new members in a competitive environment and difficult economic times. Our success in recruiting new members since the announcement of the suspension of the entry fee has lead the Directors to conclude that the temporary suspension should now become permanent. This will help to ensure that Royal Ascot continues to be the natural choice for golfers seeking to join a Golf Club in this area.
